Shepard Fairey
Illustrator & Print Maker: Shepard Fairey, (February 15, 1970)
Best known for his iconic poster of Barack Obama created for the Presidential campaign Shepard Fairey was born, Frank Shepard Fairey, in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1970. He graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy in '88, and in 1992, graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a B.A. in Illustration. In 1992, while still a student at RISD, he set up, Alternate Graphics, designing and printing stickers, t-shirts, skateboards, and posters which were all available via black and white mail order catalogues which he distributed. It was at this time he created the now-infamous 'Andre the Giant Has a Posse' sticker depicting an image of an unrecognizable professional wrestler.
